There are 3 levels or dimensions to salvation: The salvation of the spirit, the soul and the body. (1st Thessalonians 5:23)

 

Sanctification is the core principle of the salvation of the soul! (James 1:21)

 

Sanctification means accessing the grace of God to daily submit to the work of the Holy Spirit in conforming you to the image of Jesus Christ.

 

In every situation, everyday, you choose, as an act of your will and through the power of the Holy Ghost, to obey God rather than your flesh or the dictates of the world around you.

 

This is the process of sanctification.

 

In regeneration the Holy Spirit re-created your spirit in the image of God. In sanctification He is continuing this work by extending the process to your soul.

Regeneration happens instantaneously - Sanctification takes a lifetime to complete.

 

Regeneration qualifies you to enter Heaven - Sanctification prepares you to rule the New Earth. (1st Corinthians 15:50)

 

It is the same work of salvation but just moved to a different level. The work the Holy Spirit began in transforming your spirit is now continued in the transformation of your mind.

 

The soul and the mind are one and the same thing.
 

In Genesis 2:7 the word “soul” translated from the Hebrew is “Nephesh” (pronounced neh-fesh) and is translated “mind or mental creature.

When the Bible says that man became a 'living soul' it means that he became a mental creature and began operating on the mental or psychic level.

The word "Psychic" simply means "relating to the mind" and does not necessarily pertain to mind-reading.

The Greek word for "soul" is "Psuche" (pronounced psoo-kay) from which we get our English words psychic, psyche, psychology all of which refer to the mind.

So, when the bible says "soul" it's simply referring to your mind.

Therefore, renewing your mind and restoring your soul are exactly the same thing.

With this knowledge we now understand that in the many passages where the bible is talking about renewing the mind it is also referring to the restoration or sanctification of the soul.

The Bible says, "For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified. The Holy Spirit also assures us of this, for he said: “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts and will write them on their minds. (Hebrews 10:14-16)

This shows us that the work of sanctification is primarily the Lord's and our part is simply to allow Him, in faith, to accomplish the work that He has already started and promises to complete.

The success of your Sanctification depends not on the application of your will power but on your faithful submission to God's power. (Philippians 1:6; Philippians 2:12-13)
